Deskrawl is a desktop idle ARPG built around fighting enemies, collecting gear and developing a hero. Start by understanding how gear, abilities, minions and town services fit together. This guide explains those relationships; it does not prescribe an untested leveling route or a “best” class.

Platform: Steam / Windows. Checked September 30, 2026. Written and source-reviewed by Deskrawl Guide Hub using the official launch description; not hands-on tested.

A first-session checklist

Use this as a reading checklist while you explore the game, rather than a sequence of unlock requirements:

  1. Read your hero's abilities. The official description confirms different hero playstyles. Decide which style you want before following a build recommendation; this page does not rank the classes.
  2. Compare the pieces of your setup. Gear, abilities and minions all contribute to a build. Read the effects available in your game and note what you changed, so you can compare the result instead of assuming an item is better because a guide calls it “best.”
  3. Check what your minions provide. The official page describes both passive buffs and special abilities. Distinguish those roles before choosing support for your hero.
  4. Look at town services as they become available. Town growth uses collected resources and unlocks NPCs and services. Check each service's in-game requirements before committing resources; no unlock level is verified here.

These priorities are editorial suggestions drawn from the systems described by the developer on Steam, not a measured fastest-start strategy.

How the main systems connect

SystemConfirmed roleWhat to check in your own game
Hero and gearDifferent playstyles combine with equipment and abilitiesAbility descriptions and the effects on your current equipment
MinionsCaptured enemies can haul the loot cart and support combatWhether your available minion provides a passive buff or an ability
TownResources support growth and additional NPC servicesThe requirements displayed by the service you want
Mythic RealmsTimed challenges increase in difficulty and rewardsThe challenge description before you enter

The official minion description explicitly includes bosses among capturable enemies. It does not establish a universal capture chance, a guaranteed boss drop, or the precise capture steps. Treat those as separate questions, rather than assuming that “capturable” means easy or guaranteed.

Trading and progression

Steam's game description says equipment, materials and minions can be traded on the Steam Market. That confirms a trading system, but it does not tell you that every item is marketable or when a particular character unlocks access. Read the item's own restrictions and the messages shown by Steam before attempting a listing.

Mythic Realms are presented as escalating timed challenges. This supports a general progression goal, not a verified entry level or a farming recommendation. No best realm, reward rate or efficient route is claimed here.

Avoid assumptions that can waste a session

  • A desktop idle game is not proof of a particular offline progression formula. We have not verified progress while the application is closed.
  • A minion's combat role does not establish its capture rate. Do not turn a missing drop into a numerical probability without data.
  • Demo-era class names, caps or routes may differ from the release. Match any detailed advice to your current version.
  • A community ranking needs a tested setup and method. This overview does not endorse an unverified tier list.

Follow a concrete player task

Use a Rein to unlock its corresponding minion, as specified by the official Take the Reins achievement. For actionable details, start with Rein use, compare minion effects, find a target in the boss region list, or check the Rainbow Key requirement. These pages distinguish confirmed item effects from unverified drop rates and builds.
